A
businessman called Robert Maxwell (not yet famous)
has the contract
to publish an English translation of the Soviet Bulletin of Patents and
Inventions. He has collected money from subscribers, but is way behind
with the publishing schedule. Hardly any
editions at all have been produced.
Monty's
Solution:
He
flies to Moscow and convinces the Russian authorities that Derwent
should take over this publishing contract. They are
impressed by his
specialist knowledge and growing reputation -- and insist that
Maxwell transfer the business to him.
It is the start
of
a
long-term
frosty relationship between the two men, but Maxwell has no choice --
and
the contract gets signed. (View the signatures here).
