A
frequent visitor to the London Patent Office, Monty has the idea of
making summaries of the latest inventions, but doesn't have time for
this during his working day at Pyrene Company. The texts of patents
cannot be removed from the building, and this is before the
days of scans or
printouts -- let alone online.
Monty's
Solution:
During
his visits, he hurriedly makes a note of documents of particular
interest and the numbers of important paragraphs within them.
His
father, a retired tailor, then travels to the Patent Office
and carefully copies out those paragraphs in his best handwriting.
These transcriptions
are given to Monty to summarise at home or while he
commutes to and from work.
